The Ultimate Handoff

When we tell people, “It’s in my hands now,” “done,” or “you can count on me,” we mean that whatever was handed over is now our responsibility. It is in responsible hands.
What does that mean?
The whole concept of "it’s in your hands now" means we give total responsibility to a person to fulfill a job, and we trust them to fulfill it. We put it in the hands of people who are capable of getting “it” done.
Then we move on, not even thinking about it.
If we do think about it, it’s just a gentle reminder: “Oh yeah, that’s handled.”
Consider open-heart surgery. Whose hands should I put this in? I would do research to find the most capable person. I would look at all their accomplishments, reviews from patients, and doctors. After much thoughtful consideration, I would choose whose hands my life would be in.
By the same token, I would not trust that surgeon to do a brake job on my car. I would want a mechanic who is honest and knows what they are doing.
This is complete trust—knowing the expertise, experience, resources and reputation of whoever we are putting in charge.
Let’s look at this wonderful verse.
Psalm 66:9
”Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling.”
In His hands….
Think about this. The God who created the whole earth and everything in it—our lives are in His hands. Talk about resources; I think He has a few.
Do your research, read. (The Bible). Is He capable? Can he do this? How did He do it? You’ll see the God who is very experienced, he has every resource and expertise. He has the reputation too.
What comes to mind when we say, "My life is in Your hands"? He’s got this. He’s got the resources. He’s got the wherewithal. He’s got the ability. He’s going to see it through to the end, and it will be delivered completely because we trusted the right Person to do the job.
What comes with this trust? Security, peace, and relief.
An old hymn shares these same truths.
My Times Are In Thy Hand
By William F. Lloyd (1791–1853)
“My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.”
Prayer for today
“God, we thank You that we can trust You. We can say our lives are in Your hands. Those hands are big. Those hands are capable. Those hands have all the resources for all my life’s needs. I can have peace. I can rest knowing You’ve got this. Thank You. You are capable.”
Hallelujah!!
Love,
Mary
