He Carries Us

Oh, the thought: He carries us.

What a beautiful, constant reality. But notice the fullness of how He holds us. He not only has our lives in His hands and His hand of blessing on our heads, but He carries us in His arms.

The Heart of Unconditional Love

Often, we think of God’s help as something we have to "trigger." We think we have to reach the end of our rope or be completely exhausted before He steps in. We assume there is a prerequisite—that we must be "tired enough" to be held.

But God’s love doesn’t have prerequisites.

His love is unconditional, which means His care is not a response to your struggle; it is His nature toward you. He doesn’t wait for you to hit your capacity or stumble under the weight of the day.

He just carries us.

He carries you simply because you are His. It’s an all-day reality. Whether you feel strong or weak, whether the day is easy or hard, you are being held. He doesn't wait for you to ask or for you to "need" it—He is already doing it. This is the peace of unconditional love: you are already in His arms.

The Three-Fold Reality

God uses these images throughout His Word so we can truly "get" how much we are loved.

  • Our lives are in His hands: We are secure, and He tells us that no one can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:28).
  •  His hand of blessing is on our heads: He hems us in behind and before, and lays His hand upon us (Psalm 139:5).
  • His arms carry us: He picks us up and sustains us unconditionally, every single day (Psalm 68:19).

Armed with these realities, I choose to live out of that truth today. All day long, I’ll be saying back to Him…

  •  "You are carrying me."
  •  "My life is in Your hands."
  • "Your hand of blessing is on my head."

Let’s face the day with this foundation. When the world or your own thinking tries to tell you that you have to earn your way or do it on your own, remember the reality of His arms. That is faith.

Today: I will live out of the fact that He is carrying me, unconditionally.

My Prayer

God, You are my Great Shepherd—what more do I need? You, who place Your hand of blessing on my head; You, who hold my life in Your hands; You, God, who carry me.
Thank You that Your love is unconditional. Thank You that You don’t wait for me to qualify for Your help. You love me and You carry me all day long, just because I am Yours. Help me to turn quickly from the lie that I am alone to the truth that I am held. Thank You for carrying me. Help me to live in that real freedom today.

Hallelujah!!
Love,
Mary
